Hi all,
Hope everyone’s having a great day. As for me.. well down with flu and cough.. just one of those days..
Anyway, have created a new video for you.. I’ve not updated anyone about my 5 golden arowanas for a while now. They are doing fine! Still fighting amongst themselves though but this is expected. Have good appetite but been getting flak from my wife because of the smell in the water especially if you leave uneaten food in there for too long. So now what I do is when I feed them, I will open the back door and windows and also take out all uneaten food within 30 min. This will help to air the place and get rid of whatever smell that could be lingering because of the prawns that I feed them.
Cheers!
Steven

wow interesting video, that was a good idea, i will follow you.
wow what messy feeders haha…your filtration system muz be really good to cope with the amount of waste. anw nice feeding video and your aros look really happy. =D
Hi Steven,
Thanks for your professional video. All these guys seemed to have good appetite. In order to avoid smell in my apartment, I choose to feed my fish with pellets and krill instead of live food. I’d like to know what kind of food you fed them with ? Please advise.
Regards,
Stephen Tang
Ahhian,
Other than the filtration system, I also change the water quite frequent.. about once a week.. sometimes more..
Steven
Stephen,
I only feed them market pranwns. I cut them into smaller pieces.
Steven
hi
very healthy aros, seems they r enjoying it sort of we r
thx……deepan
i enjoyed your video of feeding your arowanas. how do i make my arowanas eat prawns? they are used to eating crickets and worms only. lastly, even though they have heaters, my arowana stays at the bottom of the tank. why do they do that.
Well your dragons seems well develop with good apetite but i notice some of them have lost a few scales . Hope to have a comm tank someday..
Cheers
Barry,
If they stay at the bottom alot.. it is usually because of water problems. Try changing your water. As for making them eat prawns instead of live food, you have to train them. You must not give up and must persevere. I would encourage you to get my book on arowana care as I do go into it..
Steven
RT,
But don’t worry because they will grow back..
When they fight or jump, scales will go missing sometimes.
Steven
Hi Steven,
it was nice watching the healthy arowana feeding. I have one golden aro which is 9 months old, around 15 cms in length & feeds only on live fish & cockroach. Can you please tell me that at what age the golden aro attains a mature golden colour.
Regards,
Atanu
Hi, my arowana often swim against the front side of my tank…why is this so?
hello steven, i hava a 1 1/2 year old green arowana, it was healthy and eating very well, untill i moved it into our new house then it loss irs appetite and had a red spot in its tail until now it doesnt want to eat, and the red spots are seems to be multiplying from the top fins to the bottom fins, i hope yoyu can answere me some treatments that i can make to keep it alive because i worry that it woudn survive. thanks………………….
Atanu,
No one can say.. It depends on your own fish.. Some will attain it within the 2nd year but some later. Can’t really say. No hard and fast rule unfortunately.
Steven
Darren,
You mean it hits against your tank glass? Could be frighten of something… Sometimes they can be jittery for nothing especially if they are new to the tank.
Steven
Carlo,
Whenever you suspect something is wrong, the first thing you do is change the water. How often do you do this? BUT having said this, it is very normal for your arowanas to not eat for several days when they are moved to a new environment.
Steven
wow!!! great video, hope that i can do that too.
but regarding the smell, i haven’t face that problem before, ofcos if the water quality is turing too bad, i only feed 3 days /week, mostly life food, if out off stock than i feed some prawn meat, he don’t like it, others like worm, small fish, cricket n the rest is just somethings to play with.
anyways tks for ur effort, u r someone i know so passion about aro, r u doing businese in the field? i would like to know more how, if u r, pls kindly inform n keep intouch, i know roughly but not well, in malaysia form dealer is kept them self too screctly, is not a good sigh, sell with unreasonable price n no 2nd value will only kill the market for aro in longterm.
