Alex,
Salt is fine for all fishes.. I put salt into my goldfish pond as well when I change the water.... No worries with that.

I have had no power for 4 days as result of storm on east coast. I got a generator up yesterday. my silver arowana has some funky white/brown film over the eyes and head, will not eat. I have 75 gal tank

I have read to add salt to the tank and turn up the temp to above 30deg C /86 F...... and do a 1/3 water change......

my questions is about the salt. I have other fish in the tank... a few barbs and some bala sharks, a few loaches..... will the salt affect them?

or should i set up my small 10 gallon as a treatment tank?

thanks!!!

Rozario,
You do not need medication for cloudy eye. You just need to change the water and the cloudy eyes will clear up in a few weeks.

Jazzilleen,
Thanks for the kind words.
As I mentioned, cloudy eyes can be easily cured by several changes of water. :-)
ok as for the salt.. as a rough guide, if you have a 4ft tank, maybe just put in about 150gms everytime you change the water..

Jazzileen,
Cloudy eye is caused by the 'bad' condition of the water. It is very common. Once in a while, my arowanas get it as well. It will go away in time. Sometimes up to a week for it to clear.
Just change your water every 3-4 days for the next week or two and your fish will be fine! :-) DOn't need to add any medication. It is not fungus.. Just change water and add salt like what I mentioned in this article.

At of i'm writing this email, i feel so sad....when i got back from work yesterday, i found my aro swimming still and then suddenly when it turn....i saw the left eye...swollen and has some sort like catarac..a white "selaput" covering the eye and the eye is very swollen.. i do not what is it?? is that how cloudy eyes look like?? i took couple of photos i went over to the fish shop and they tell me it's caused by fungus, probably from the live feeder (gold fish)..he told me to change the water, which i did, about 30%. add salt about 1/4 of 1 kilo and medicated it with BETTAS anti fungus.
This morning, the condition of the eye havent change much. Though it not very swollen anymore but the white cloudy has become worst....gosh, i actually cried my self to bed last night and cried again this morning. When i 1st bought this fish, i didnt even thought that i will be so attached to it like in the state i am now..
